Pamela J. Gonzales, Noonan Elementary Librarian
Pamela J Gonzales

The 2025-2026 school year will begin my 7th year with Alice ISD and my 6th year as a Noonan Mustang. My experience and education includes earning a master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction with Texas A&M University Corpus Christi in 2007 and later earning a librarian certification. After teaching for 9 years, I decided on a career change and continued with college to earn a librarian certification. In December of 2018, I completed the required courses through Texas A&M University Commerce and passed the required librarian certification exam.

My passion is learning, teaching, and inspiring others to learn to be curious about life. My husband and I were blessed with six children who have taught us about how to mentor and lead children into adulthood. Being a parent has taught me so much about having empathy for the diversity and uniqueness of each child.

Each day, I make it a goal to inspire children to continue to be curious about the content of books, to challenge themselves to improve their skills, and to build confidence within themselves to be successful. My goal is to create a safe space for children to have a positive experience and to ultimately become lifelong readers.

NOONAN ELEMENTARY LIBRARY POINT STORE

Students at Noonan Elementary can earn points to purchase items at the point store!

Prekindergarten and Kindergarten students can earn items from our point store by participating with the Noonan Elementary Library reading log. Every six weeks, students are given a library reading log. On the inside cover of the reading log, it explains how to participate and what students can earn. After each six weeks, students who participate and complete their reading logs, can turn in the completed reading logs to the library to claim their prize! 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students can earn points by reading books and participating in the library reading program. The more a student participates, the points a student can earn. Students can choose to save their points throughout the school year or spend at the end of the school year. Please encourage students to participate so they have opportunities to earn incentives for reading!

NOONAN ELEMENTARY BOOK VENDING MACHINE INCENTIVE
NOONAN ELEMENTARY BOOK VENDING MACHINE INCENTIVE

The Noonan Elementary Vending machine incentive is designed to reward students who display positive behaviors. Students cannot purchase a book from the vending machine with money. They can earn a golden token to select a book from the book vending machine by displaying positive behaviors at school. One way students have earned a golden token to select a book is by coming to school every day! Students who have perfect attendance each six weeks will be eligible to receive a token to choose a book from the vending machine. A student who earned perfect attendance for the entire school year can earn a total of 6 books!

Another way students can earn a token from the vending machine is by showing leadership. Each month, a student from each classroom is selected as the GRIT student of the month. Each GRIT student is eligible to receive a golden token to select a book from the vending machine. Students can earn golden tokens in other positive ways that will be at the discretion of the teacher and the librarian.

NOONAN ELEMENTARY LIBRARY STORY AREA

During story time in the library each week, we read a variety of topics and genres. Before, during, and after reading stories, students have the opportunity to share what they've learned. During the school year, students will also have the opportunity to become the characters of a story that we read together. Sharing stories together in the designated library story area each week allows for students to explore books in a quiet space, promotes the joy of reading, and encourages our students to become lifelong readers.
