Military Family Resources

Meet Your Campus Military Liaison: Amber Garcia, LBSW

The primary roles of a Military Liaison are to facilitate the successful integration of military children into schools, organize military-connected professional development for educators, and connect military families with essential district, community, and military resources.

Campus Liaison Duties

  • Serving as the point of contact and working collaboratively between military connected students and their families and the campus
  • Maintaining familiarity with enrollment processes, records transfer, existing community resources, and student supports
  • Ensuring military-connected students are identified and properly coded through the Texas Student Data System Public Education Information Management System (TSDS PEIMS);
  • Determining campus-based supports and services available to military-connected students based on their unique needs, including their high mobility
  • Assisting in coordinating campus-based programs relevant to military-connected students
  • Attending professional development or training annually to learn and understand topics related to the transition of military-connected students and their families

In addition to being your campus military liaison, I also serve as your campus school social worker.

Military Family Resources

Pre-K Enrollment Information

    Pre-K Enrollment

    The district's Pre-Kindergarten program provides early learning experiences designed to mitigate the impact of at-risk characteristics to eligible students who are 4 years of age on or before September 1 (see Eligibility Criteria below).

    Military families who live within the school boundaries may register for enrollment by contacting the Noonan Elementary campus for grades PK - 5. Please contact Amber Garcia, Military Liaison or Dr. Massey, Noonan Principal for campus tours to all prospective families who are looking for a great school district.

    The Texas Education Agency (TEA) has provided guidance for military families on Free PreKindergarten Eligibility.

    Students are eligible for enrollment in Pre-K if they are dependents of:

    • active duty uniformed members (parents or official guardians) of the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, or Coast Guard who have eligible children residing in Texas
    • activated or mobilized uniformed members of the Texas National Guard (army or air guard), or activated or mobilized members of the Texas National Guard (army or air guard), or activated or mobilized members of the reserve components of the US Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air force, or Coast Guard who have eligible children residing in Texas
    • uniformed service members who are missing in action (MIA)
